Peter Szijjártó talks about “bringing the world back to Europe” in 2025 after Trump’s victory

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated that the results of the U.S. presidential election have created a “completely new” political reality that could contribute to peace in Europe.

According to Szijjártó, the future U.S. administration may adopt a more “pro-peace” approach, casting doubt on Europe’s current strategy of arms supplies and sanctions against Russia. He believes the victory of the Republican candidate significantly increases the chances of “peace returning to Europe as early as next year.” Szijjártó noted that this opens up new economic opportunities for Hungary, as the country may no longer need to allocate resources for military needs. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, known for his close relationship with Trump, became the first in the EU to congratulate him on his election victory, even before the official results were announced. He also emphasized the need for a new European strategy toward Ukraine and announced “ambitious plans for the future” after a conversation with Trump.
