Amsterdam police dispersed a pro-Palestinian protest in the city center on Sunday, November 10, which took place despite a court ban on mass gatherings following clashes involving Israeli football fans earlier in the week.
Several hundred demonstrators gathered at Dam Square in the Dutch capital, chanting calls to end the violence in Gaza and “Free Palestine.” Police intervened, citing a three-day ban by the Amsterdam court on demonstrations, imposed after attacks on supporters of the Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv.
People continued arriving at Dam Square even after police announced that the protest was illegal. According to media reports, around a hundred people were detained in total.
