In the Chinese city of Zhuhai, a 62-year-old driver named Fang intentionally drove into a crowd on a sports field, killing 35 people and injuring 43. The incident occurred shortly before a major aviation exhibition.
Fang, found in his car with a knife and neck wounds, is believed to have attempted self-harm. He is currently in the hospital, and authorities have not yet been able to question him. Preliminary investigations suggest his actions may have been motivated by dissatisfaction with a property settlement following a divorce.
A criminal case has been opened against the driver, and the investigation is ongoing. Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for strict punishment for Fang, labeling him a criminal, and urged maximum efforts to save the 43 injured and to support the victims and their families.
