Trump could end the war and get a better deal from Moscow – Politico

Some European politicians and Ukrainian representatives express hope that Donald Trump, if elected, could bring an end to the war in Ukraine. Experts believe he might secure better terms for Ukraine than the current administration.

According to “Politico,” Trump is focused on striking deals that appear advantageous and has reassured President Zelensky that he will not abandon Ukraine. However, a potential peace agreement may involve territorial concessions, which would place pressure on the West, given its commitment to restoring Ukraine’s 1991 borders.

Ukraine is unlikely to gain NATO membership, making such a deal unacceptable to many. “Politico” notes that the lack of alternatives to ending the war along the current front line risks leading to a prolonged conflict or the West becoming more directly involved in the fighting.

In Kyiv, Trump’s victory is seen as more favorable than Kamala Harris assuming power. Harris is expected to continue the current administration’s policy, which some view as slowing down support for Ukraine. While Trump could quickly allocate aid, there is a concern he might start viewing Ukraine as an obstacle to peace if Kyiv does not demonstrate flexibility.
