German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius does not believe that the U.S. decision to allow ATACMS strikes on Russian territory should influence Berlin’s position on refusing to provide Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
According to him, the U.S. approval of long-range strikes on Russia “does not change our current assessment.”
At present, “there is no reason to make a different decision,” Pistorius added.
Previously, the German government stated that Chancellor Olaf Scholz is not prepared to transfer long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, despite the U.S. approval for ATACMS strikes on Russian territory.
