The Houthis attacked a ship in the Red Sea

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that on the evening of November 17, Yemeni Houthis attempted a missile attack on a commercial vessel in the Red Sea, approximately 48 kilometers west of the port of Mocha.

According to the ship’s captain, the missile fell into the sea without causing any damage. No injuries were reported. The vessel and its crew are safe and continuing to their destination port, UKMTO stated.

The Houthis began targeting commercial vessels in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait area in November 2023, declaring their alignment with Hamas in its war against Israel. This escalation has led to a significant reduction in cargo traffic through the Suez Canal.
