Armed suspect sought after shooting in Duisburg

This morning, a special forces unit carried out an assault in the Hochemmerich district of Duisburg.

Around 6 a.m., the operatives stormed an apartment in a multi-story building to apprehend a suspect involved in a shooting that took place in the city a week ago. According to police, the conflict may have been related to drugs or competition between dealers.

The incident occurred in the southern part of the city, where two men engaged in a shootout. One of the participants, a 32-year-old Iraqi national, was shot in the leg but survived. The shooter, believed to be a 37-year-old German of Turkish descent, fled the scene. The police quickly identified him and organized a special operation.

Although the victim is not in danger, the investigation has classified the case as attempted murder. However, the suspect was not found in the apartment. He is now being searched for with the help of special dogs trained to find weapons and other evidence.

The suspect’s wife has already provided initial testimony that could help locate him. The special forces remain on standby for further actions.
