In the U.S., it is expected that Donald Trump, the winner of the presidential election, will soon begin negotiations with Russia to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
This opinion is expressed by Bloomberg columnist Andreas Kluth. He notes that the decision by U.S. President Joe Biden to allow Kyiv to strike deep into Russian territory with long-range American missiles could become an additional argument for Trump in his upcoming talks with Vladimir Putin.
Kluth believes that by allowing Ukraine to use such missiles, Biden has effectively given Trump “another card” for potential negotiations. In his interpretation, Biden might be trying to help Trump conduct “real” negotiations to resolve the conflict.
Earlier, The Washington Post reported that on November 7, Donald Trump allegedly had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin denied this information, and Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov called it a “media fabrication.”
Trump has repeatedly stated that he would be able to achieve peace in Ukraine through negotiations and even claimed he could resolve the conflict in a single day. However, in Russia, this approach is considered too simplistic to solve such a complex issue. Additionally, Trump has criticized the current U.S. policy towards Ukraine and frequently expressed negative views about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him a “merchant” whose visits to the U.S. end in multi-billion-dollar aid packages.
