Two suspects arrested in Poland for illegal immigrant legalization scheme, including one Ukrainian

Two suspects have been arrested in Poland for organizing a scheme to legalize the stay of foreign nationals in the country, including a Ukrainian citizen.

The Central Bureau of Investigation and border guards apprehended two additional suspects, believed to be involved in an organized criminal group that assisted in legalizing the stay of foreigners in Poland.

The arrested individuals are a 27-year-old Polish citizen and a 30-year-old Ukrainian. They are suspected of participating in the group’s activities and obtaining administrative decisions for the legalization of foreign nationals’ stays in Poland.

The group is believed to have been active between 2017 and 2019, helping several hundred citizens from Ukraine, Georgia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal to obtain legal status. The criminals created fake employment documents, which were then used by clients to obtain residence permits.

Earlier in 2024, eight other individuals were arrested in connection with this case, including a Polish national believed to be the leader of the group.

The arrested individuals face up to eight years in prison.
