Poland sets presidential campaign launch for January 8, 2025

Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia has announced that Poland’s official presidential election campaign will begin on January 8, 2025, with the first round of elections scheduled for May.

“It is here today that I want to tell you that the presidential campaign in our country will start on January 8 next year,” Hołownia stated.

Hołownia explained that January 6, the earliest possible date for the election, is a public holiday, and January 7 will be used to finalize formalities with the State Electoral Commission. He emphasized that the campaign has already been informally active and stressed the importance of a fair and transparent election process.

“This marks the beginning of a process in which candidates can transparently compete with one another, gather signatures, and ensure that the elections are conducted properly. In an atmosphere of calm, fair play, and meaningful discussions, without tricks or conspiracies,” he noted.

While confirming that the elections will take place in May, Hołownia added that he has yet to consult with the opposition party Law and Justice (PiS) to finalize the exact date.
