On Monday morning, November 25, activists from the “Last Generation” movement blocked the Wisłostrada Tunnel in Warsaw.
As of 8:00 AM, a traffic jam had formed at the entrance to the tunnel due to the protest. Although the police had already removed the first blockaders, new activists continued their actions, leading to ongoing traffic disruptions.
The protesters expressed dissatisfaction with the policies of the Polish government under Prime Minister Donald Tusk, accusing him of exacerbating the climate crisis.
On their website, the activists outlined two demands:
- Allocate 100% of funds from the construction of new highways and motorways to the development of regional public transportation.
- Introduce a unified ticket for 50 zlotys per month for all types of regional transportation across the country.
