In Berlin, the election of a transgender police officer has sparked controversy amid allegations of sexual assault

The Berlin police department recently concluded elections for women’s representatives. Among the newly elected officials is 27-year-old Judy S., who secured 638 votes and will assume the role of deputy women’s representative.

She is expected to officially take office this week. However, her election has sparked controversy among her colleagues. Judy S. faces serious allegations: she is suspected of drugging two male colleagues during a party at the well-known Berlin club KitKat and engaging in non-consensual sexual acts with them. Both men reportedly believed that Judy was a cisgender woman.

During a search of her apartment on November 11, police reportedly found illegal substances, further complicating her candidacy. Additionally, some colleagues argue that Judy S. should have disclosed her transgender identity, given the responsibilities of the role. Several staff members have expressed doubts about her ability to adequately represent women.

Amid these allegations and the ensuing debates, Berlin police officials have refrained from making any comments, citing the ongoing investigation.
