Spain to give Valencia another 2.3 billion euros to rebuild after floods

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has announced an additional €2.3 billion in aid for the Valencia region, which was severely affected by recent floods.

The total support now amounts to €16.6 billion, and Sánchez pledged that aid would continue until full recovery is achieved. He emphasized the link between extreme weather events and climate change, criticizing regional leader Carles Mason from the opposition People’s Party for delays in responding to warnings.

The floods, among the deadliest in Spain’s history, claimed over 200 lives in Valencia. Last weekend, residents of the region staged protests demanding Mason’s resignation and improvements in infrastructure, including the restoration of schools.
