Finnish police wrap up investigation into large-scale international phone fraud

Finnish authorities are concluding an extensive investigation into a major international phone fraud scheme, which is believed to have involved criminal groups from Denmark.

The Finnish police, as reported by a local broadcaster, have been probing a widespread scam in which perpetrators impersonated police officers and bank employees, targeting victims across Northern Europe. The fraudsters are suspected of making fraudulent phone calls to deceive individuals out of hundreds of thousands of euros.

Initial findings indicate that the total damage caused to victims is approximately 400,000 euros. From June to November, law enforcement arrested 22 individuals in connection with the scheme, including six Danish nationals and five Norwegians.

The Finnish police have worked closely with authorities from Denmark and Norway, forming a joint international investigation team, with the effort coordinated by Finland.
