After winning the election, Trump consulted Orban on Ukraine issues

Following his victory in the U.S. presidential election, Republican Donald Trump repeatedly reached out to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to discuss his views on the war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to sources, after November 5, Trump held several phone conversations with Orban, dedicating significant attention to the situation in Ukraine. It has been reported that the Hungarian prime minister plans to resume his “peacekeeping mission” and is preparing for new visits. While the details remain unclear, it is assumed that Orban intends to convey his proposals to Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Orban, who maintains close ties with Trump, was the first EU leader to congratulate him on his election victory, despite the lack of official results. In his statements, Orban emphasized the need for a new European strategy on Ukraine and mentioned “big plans for the future” following discussions with Trump.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó noted that the U.S. election results have created a “completely new” political reality, which he believes could bring Europe closer to achieving peace.
