In Sweden, three people are accused of preparing an Islamist terrorist attack

The Swedish prosecutor’s office has charged three individuals with preparing a terrorist act linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) group.

The accused face charges of preparing terrorist crimes and illegal use of weapons under aggravating circumstances. The investigation revealed that these terrorist offenses have international connections to ISIS, particularly in Somalia, as well as to individuals under investigation for terrorism abroad, according to the prosecutor’s office statement.

The three accused individuals, along with another person, are charged with participation in a terrorist organization. All of them are connected to an Islamic cultural organization in the town of Tyresö and held various roles.

They are currently in custody awaiting trial.

This is a major and complex investigation. Among the evidence is information that one of the accused pledged allegiance to ISIS and actively sought underage perpetrators who could carry out attacks. Although we have not found weapons intended for the crime, I believe the evidence is substantial, said Senior Prosecutor Lars Hedvall, who is leading the investigation.

Last week, it was reported that four suspects were detained in Germany for preparing attacks and illegal possession of weapons, linked to the Hamas terrorist group.
