French cab drivers protest near Paris over patient transportation fare cuts

On Tuesday, December 3, French taxi drivers staged protests on roads in the Île-de-France region, opposing a reduction in medical transport rates.

According to reports, the protesters organized several vehicle convoys. One convoy departed in the morning along the A1 highway, which connects Paris with the northern city of Lille. Other groups moved along the A13 highway heading northeast.

The protesters plan to reach the National Assembly (the lower house of parliament) and remain outside the building overnight.

The protest was sparked by a proposed agreement that includes reducing rates for patient transport. According to the Sytadin traffic portal, the demonstrations have severely disrupted traffic in the region, with total congestion exceeding 400 kilometers.
