Greek authorities dismantle network trafficking Colombian women for sexual exploitation

The criminal group, operating since at least 2019, brought women to Greece and coerced them into providing sexual services in apartments and strip clubs.

The Greek police reported that this week, the alleged leader and eight members of the group were arrested. In total, 29 women were provided with protection and support during the operation, which also involved non-governmental organizations.

Authorities noted that the women were promised lucrative jobs as dancers in Greek strip clubs, but upon arrival, their identity documents were confiscated. They were confined to apartments in Athens and forced to work in two nightclubs owned by the group’s leader. There, they were coerced into providing sexual services to clients in an attempt to repay debts allegedly owed to the group.

The investigation began following the testimony of one victim. Police conducted searches at the apartments, homes of the suspects, and strip clubs, seizing cash, knives, bullets, and documents tied to the network’s activities.

Two other men, including one based in Colombia, were identified as potential members of the network and remain at large, according to Greek police.
