Polish courts show leniency towards climate activists blocking roads

In Poland, courts have been lenient in handling cases involving climate activists from the “Last Generation” movement, who have been blocking roads in the capital.

Judges typically impose reprimands and fines for administrative violations related to these protests.

According to RMF24, Warsaw courts have reviewed 60 cases so far. Out of these, 33 cases ended with reprimands, while 26 resulted in fines ranging from 100 to 1,000 zlotys (from 23 to 233 euro).

Journalists report that only one case saw a more severe sentence: a one-month restriction of freedom requiring 40 hours of community service.

Some of the court decisions are not final, as police have lodged objections to them.
