Portugal experienced its warmest November on record, according to the country’s meteorological agency, IPMA. The average air temperature last month was 2.69 degrees Celsius above the norm for 1981–2010, reaching an average of 15.14 degrees Celsius.
“November was the hottest month in the history of observations since the institute began collecting such data in 1931,” a representative of the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) said in an interview with AFP.
The institute plans to publish the complete dataset for the month in the coming days.
Neighboring Spain also recorded its warmest November since observations began, with an average temperature of 12.4 degrees Celsius. This figure surpassed the previous record set in 1983 by 0.5 degrees Celsius.
