A recent survey conducted by the Ronald Reagan Institute reveals that the number of Americans worried about a nuclear strike by Russia has increased.
According to the findings, 76% of respondents expressed concern that Russia could use nuclear weapons in its war against Ukraine. Meanwhile, 70% indicated worry about a potential nuclear attack on the United States.
These figures mark a 10-point rise from 2021, illustrating heightened public anxiety over nuclear threats.
U.S. intelligence has reported that Washington’s decision to permit Ukraine to launch American-made weapons into Russian territory has not heightened the risk of a nuclear strike from Russia. On November 19, President Vladimir Putin signed a revised nuclear doctrine, broadening the circumstances under which Russia might resort to nuclear weapons.
Putin also issued warnings to Western nations about potential strikes in response to Ukraine’s use of Western missiles on Russian territory.
