In a newly updated civil lawsuit, rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z are accused of raping a 13-year-old girl at an after-party in 2000. Jay-Z has denied the allegations.
The accuser, identified as “Jane Doe,” alleges that the assault took place after the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000. The lawsuit, initially targeting only Combs, was modified to include Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.
According to the lawsuit, Doe attended the VMAs without a ticket and approached various limousine drivers for entry to the event. One driver, claiming to work for Combs, allegedly said she “fit what Diddy was looking for” and took her to a house where she signed a document she thought was a non-disclosure agreement.
She reports being given a drink that made her feel disoriented. The lawsuit alleges that while in a room, Jay-Z removed her clothes and raped her, with Combs and an unnamed female celebrity watching. It claims Combs also assaulted her during this time, and that others present at the party did nothing to intervene.
Jay-Z strongly denies the accusations, claiming on X that his lawyer received a blackmail attempt from attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents over 120 accusers against Combs, who is facing separate charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Combs criminal trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025.
