A shooting near a refugee camp in France has left five people dead, including two security guards.
The incident occurred on Saturday, December 14, in the towns of Loon-Plage and Wormhout, near Dunkirk in northern France. According to authorities, the suspect voluntarily turned himself in to the gendarmerie and confessed to the crime.
Loon-Plage Mayor Éric Rommel reported that the first four victims were killed between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM at two separate locations. Among the deceased were two security guards patrolling the port and two migrants shot between Loon-Plage and Dunkirk.
Later, the suspect admitted to a fifth murder in Wormhout. Rescue workers arrived at the scene at 3:15 PM and found a 29-year-old man who had died from a gunshot wound.
This incident follows a recent shooting at a mosque in southern France, where an elderly man injured two worshippers.
