Thailand is switching to an electronic visa system for entry into the country

Starting January 1, 2025, Thailand will implement an electronic visa (e-visa) system for all foreign nationals.

Visa procedures, including document submission and visa issuance, will be conducted online. The visa will no longer be a stamp in the passport but will be provided as a file that must be presented at passport control.

The new system will simplify the visa application process and ensure quick and secure control. It will be integrated with immigration police databases, making it easier to verify information. Visa-free entry for citizens of several countries will remain unchanged.

The electronic system has been tested since 2019, and Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not expect any issues upon its full implementation.
