Italian man who escaped house arrest was extradited by TikTok

Italian Carabinieri turned out to be among the followers of a 56-year-old man from the province of Naples who posted videos on TikTok showing himself leaving his home in violation of his house arrest conditions.

According to the newspaper Quotidiano Nazionale, the man, who had been convicted on drug charges, uploaded a total of six videos documenting his outings despite the restriction.

Local Carabinieri tracked his posts and compared them with footage from surveillance cameras around his house. As a result of violating the terms of his house arrest, the Italian man lost his freedom: the court ruled to transfer him to prison to serve his sentence.
