Musk calls for mental health checks on U.S. officials

Elon Musk has suggested implementing cognitive tests for politicians after 81-year-old Congresswoman Kay Granger from Texas was found in a dementia care facility after getting lost on the street.

It was previously reported that Granger had been absent from work for most of the second half of the year, with her phone calls going unanswered. One of her constituents reported that she was in a care facility, and staff members confirmed this information.

Maybe we should introduce a basic cognitive test for elected officials? This is becoming insane, Musk wrote in response to the news on social media.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that the team of U.S. President Joe Biden, who turned 82 in November, had created special working conditions for him, as it sometimes seemed he was not always keeping up with current events. Biden, the oldest president in U.S. history, has often been criticized for slip-ups and mistakes in public speeches, which his political opponents have used to question his ability to effectively lead the country.
