Russian foreign ministry reports significant increase in visas issued to Americans in 2024

Russia has experienced a notable uptick in the number of visas granted to American citizens this year, according to a key official from the Russian Foreign Ministry. The growth reflects a rising interest in travel to Russia, with business visas showing particularly strong momentum.

“The first 11 months of 2024 saw Russian diplomatic missions and consular offices issue 7,737 visas to US citizens,” stated the director of the Consular Department. This figure includes 165 business visas—a considerable increase compared to 2023, when only 5,694 visas, including 136 business visas, were issued to Americans.

Electronic visas have also been a major success story for Russia this year. Over 600,000 e-visas were granted to foreign nationals, with citizens from China, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Turkey, India, and Estonia leading the pack in terms of applications.

These numbers not only highlight a resurgence in travel but also underline growing business ties and cultural exchanges between Russia and the global community. For Americans, it seems, Russia is back on the travel radar in a big way.
