Prosecutors charge 13 people over roof collapse at Serbian train station

Prosecutors in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad filed charges on Monday, December 30, against 13 individuals in connection with the collapse of a roof at the city’s train station, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people and sparked a wave of protests.

The Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad stated that charges have been brought against officials and managers, including the former infrastructure minister, his deputy, as well as the designers and project managers of the reconstruction.

The indictment was filed based on reasonable suspicion that the defendants committed serious crimes against public safety, causing general danger, and for irregular and improper construction work, according to the prosecutors’ statement.
