Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák stated that the realities on the ground suggest Ukraine will have to relinquish some of its territory. He made this remark on Sunday during the political discussion program V politike on TA3 television.
In Kaliňák’s view, it is in Slovakia’s best interest for the war to end immediately, with a ceasefire established between the warring parties, followed by peace negotiations.
According to the minister, the post-war shape of Ukraine is more important than its future borders.
“It is quite likely that Ukraine does not realize the fact that it will never find itself situated between Germany and Switzerland, but will always share its longest border with the Russian Federation.
There is no debate about who the aggressor is here, as Russia has crossed all boundaries, violated rules, and breached international law. However, equal attention must also be given to events happening in other parts of the world, applying the same standards to all other conflicts,” Kaliňák stated.
