U.S. President-elect Donald Trump recently hinted that he sees no reason to stop using the TikTok platform, which he views as a powerful tool for spreading information.
He shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), where his posts are also mirrored from his main social media platform, Truth Social.
Trump posted a table on his account showing the performance of his content on TikTok as of early January 2025. The data revealed that his posts had garnered tens of billions of views, with his accounts significantly outperforming those of his election rivals, including Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as popular figures like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.
“Why would I want to get rid of TikTok?” Trump rhetorically asked in his post.
While discussions about monitoring or potentially banning TikTok have been ongoing in Western countries due to concerns about its algorithms and ties to China, many high-profile politicians and their teams continue to use the platform to engage with audiences and promote their content.
