Armed man takes hostage in German bank, surrenders peacefully after hours-long standoff

In the German city of Rimbach, an armed man stormed a local bank on Tuesday morning and took a woman hostage. The suspect has been apprehended.

Reports indicate the man entered the bank at approximately 8:00 AM. A police spokesperson stated that the man “held the woman against her will,” threatening her with a knife. The motive behind the crime remains unclear, and the suspect’s demands are unknown.

A police operation was launched at the scene, with the bank building being cordoned off. Special operations and negotiation teams, made up of police specialists in tactical dialogue, were involved in handling the situation.

By 11:00 AM, the 36-year-old man surrendered peacefully to special forces, according to t-online.
