American billionaire Elon Musk, following criticism from London, conducted an online poll asking whether the U.S. should “free the people of Britain from tyranny.”
On Monday, Musk posted a poll on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), asking users to answer “yes” or “no” to the question of whether America should “liberate the people of Britain from a tyrannical government.”
This post was Musk’s latest jab after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the spread of lies and fake news, hinting at Musk’s influence.
In addition, Musk commented below the poll, calling it a “not bad idea” when someone suggested that Britain “could become a state.”
The most liked response in the comments came from the satirical account on British politics, “Larry the Cat,” which reminded readers that a tyrant is defined as a ruler with unlimited power who governs with cruel methods.
Shortly before this, Musk directly stated that the populist Reform U.K. party is the “only one that can save Britain,” but later criticized its current leader, Nigel Farage.
Musk also expressed support for Tommy Robinson, a leader of the British right-wing, who was jailed in October for violating a court order related to defamatory statements about a Syrian refugee schoolboy. In response, the British government suggested Musk focus on American politics instead.
