Donald Trump announced preparations for a meeting with Vladimir Putin

On January 10, Donald Trump stated that preparations are currently underway for negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump made this announcement before a meeting with Republican governors at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. He added that President Putin has already expressed a desire to meet, including publicly, and emphasized that the conflict should be resolved as soon as possible.

The Republican did not specify the exact date of a potential meeting but reiterated that the war should end “in the near future.” Earlier this week, he promised to end the war within the first six months of his presidency and stated during his election campaign that the conflict could be resolved “within 24 hours.”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said there are no specific plans for a meeting between the presidents yet, but Moscow supports the desire of the United States to engage in dialogue. According to him, after Trump takes office, further steps may be taken to organize contact.
