During a conversation on the platform X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform’s owner, American billionaire Elon Musk, and Alice Weidel, the leader of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD), criticized “leftism” in German education and bureaucracy.
At the beginning of the audio stream, Musk referred to Weidel as “the leading candidate, in his opinion, to run Germany.” Throughout the discussion, Musk and Weidel covered a range of topics, from solar energy to the red tape in German business practices.
Weidel specifically asked the billionaire if he was aware of the burdensome regulations for doing business in Germany. Musk responded by sharing his experience, noting that he had been required to submit a 25,000-page application.
The two also discussed the “leftist” education system in Germany.
“We have this insane, wokeish, socialist, leftist agenda in our educational system. So, the young people, they don’t learn anything in school, university. They just learn about gender studies,” Weidel claimed.
Musk replied: “It sounds like the woke mind virus has infected Germany quite badly.”
Alice Weidel serves as the co-chair of the Alternative for Germany party and is their candidate for Chancellor in the snap Bundestag elections set for February 23. Previously, Musk publicly voiced his support for the AfD, stating that the party is the only one that “can save Germany.”
