In 2025, operations to implant the device are planned for 20-30 people. Musk has previously stated that in the future, the use of such implants will become a daily norm.
We now have three people with Neuralink implants, and all of them are functioning properly. We expect 20-30 patients with activated implants this year, Musk said in an interview broadcast on the social media platform X.
In August 2025, Neuralink reported that the second participant in the experiment, who received the brain chip, is able to create 3D objects with the power of thought. In January 2024, Musk announced that the first person in the world had received a brain implant. That person was 29-year-old Noland Arbo, who became fully paralyzed after an accident that damaged his spinal cord.
Neuralink specialists implanted a small device into Arbo’s brain, which helps transmit signals to control his limbs. The signals are transmitted through a wireless network to a computer application, allowing the person to control movements with their thoughts. The technology is aimed at helping people who have lost the ability to move their limbs.
