The President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Nawaf Salam, who became the Prime Minister of Lebanon, is stepping down from his position at the Court as of January 14.
This was reported by the Court’s press service.
“Judge Nawaf Salam has resigned from his position as a member of the International Court of Justice, effective from today, January 14, 2025,” reads a press release issued by the Court.
His term as a member and president of the Court was set to end on February 5, 2027.
On Monday, Lebanese President Michel Aoun tasked Nawaf Salam with forming a new government after his candidacy was supported by 85 out of 128 members of parliament during consultations.
