The USA and Armenia signed a document to establish a joint commission on partnership

The Foreign Minister of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, and the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, signed a charter on strategic partnership between Yerevan and Washington on Tuesday in Washington.

According to Antony Blinken, this charter is a “cornerstone” in the relationship between the two countries. The document provides for the creation of a joint commission on strategic partnership, which will coordinate efforts in several key areas such as economy, defense, security, and democracy.

According to the US Secretary of State, this cooperation offers great opportunities for expanding bilateral ties and strengthening stability in the region.

During the signing of the charter, prospects for the development of economic ties, opportunities to enhance Armenia’s security and defense capabilities, as well as joint efforts to strengthen democratic institutions in the country were also discussed. Special attention was given to regional security issues, including the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, where both sides expressed interest in facilitating a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
