In Bulgaria, the National Assembly (parliament) has approved the composition of a new government proposed by the largest parliamentary group, GERB, led by Prime Minister Rossen Zhelyazkov.
The government headed by Zhelyazkov was supported by 125 deputies, while 114 voted against.
Immediately after the vote, the new government took its oath of office.
The government was formed following negotiations that culminated in an agreement between GERB-SDS, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), and the populist political party There Is Such a People (TISP).
It is worth noting that Bulgaria has experienced a prolonged political crisis in recent years due to the parliament’s inability to form a stable government. As a result, the country has held seven snap elections in the past four years.
