Last night, January 17, a fire broke out at the Bayernoil oil refinery in the Bavarian town of Neustadt an der Donau, resulting in injuries to four people.
The fire started around midnight. The Kelheim district administration promptly alerted local residents about the incident. A large number of emergency responders worked at the scene, and by morning, the fire was extinguished. The police are considering the possibility of arson, but the exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined.
The extent of the damage also remains unknown. All of the plant’s systems have been rendered inoperative, and measures are being taken to ensure safety.
The Bayernoil refinery specializes in the production of propane, butane, gasoline, diesel, and heating oil. A second facility of the company is located in Vohburg an der Donau in Upper Bavaria. Emergency services continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
