The Mayor of Warsaw proposes tightening the conditions of the program to support Ukrainian families

The Mayor of Warsaw and presidential candidate from the “Civic Coalition,” Rafał Trzaskowski, has proposed changes to the Polish financial assistance program for families with children, known as “800 Plus.”

According to him, these payments should only apply to Ukrainians who work, live, and pay taxes in Poland. Trzaskowski announced his proposal during the launch of his election campaign, which began in the Podlaskie region. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that everyone relying on support contributes to the development of the Polish economy.

I am proposing a key change: benefits like ‘800 Plus’ should be granted to Ukrainians only if they work, live in Poland, and pay taxes here. This is a sensible decision, and I urge the government to make the necessary changes to the law, said the mayor.

Trzaskowski pointed out that Poland should avoid the mistakes he believes were made by other Western countries, such as Germany or Sweden, where, as he put it, “immigrants found it advantageous to come solely for social benefits.”

At the same time, he emphasized that the majority of Ukrainians living in Poland are already working and contributing to economic growth.
