China has executed a hit-and-run driver who ran over a crowd

A court of intermediate level in the Chinese city of Zhuhai (Guangdong province) carried out the death sentence on 62-year-old driver Fan Weiqiu, who deliberately drove into a crowd at a sports center. This was reported by the South China Morning Post.

The court determined that the defendant posed a threat to public safety and sentenced him to death. After the verdict, Fan did not appeal. The method of execution was not specified.

The car attack on the crowd in Zhuhai occurred on November 11, 2024. As a result of the incident, 35 people were killed, and 43 others were injured.
