President Yoon Suk Yeol, arrested on charges of leading a rebellion, has been placed in a solitary confinement cell measuring 12 square meters at the Seoul Detention Center. The transfer occurred after the court officially issued an arrest warrant, reports Yonhap News Agency.
According to the agency, the cell where the president is being held is typically designed to accommodate five or six inmates. However, for security reasons, Yoon Suk Yeol is being held there alone. It is also reported that he underwent all standard procedures, including photographing and a medical examination, conducted by a correctional officer specifically assigned to this task.
To ensure the safety of the detained president, the facility is cooperating with the police and the Presidential Security Service. This is due to concerns over potential attempts by Yoon Suk Yeol’s supporters to free him.
After the court’s decision to detain the president, his supporters stormed the courthouse, vandalized the premises, and attempted to locate the judges who made the ruling. As a result of the incident, several police officers were injured, and 86 protesters were detained. The police are conducting an investigation into these events.
