Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, leading a delegation, will travel to Ankara on January 20 to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
This was reported by the press service of the Turkish President’s administration on Twitter. During the visit, which will take place at the Presidential Complex, opportunities for deepening cooperation between Turkey and Slovakia will be discussed, as well as exchanging views on important regional and global issues, including Turkey’s relations with the EU.
As part of the visit, agreements are expected to be signed, including a Joint Declaration that will elevate bilateral relations to the level of “strategic partnership.”
It is worth noting that recently a group of Slovak lawmakers visited Russia, and later a delegation of opposition Slovak politicians traveled to Kyiv to express support for Ukraine amid tense relations with Fico. The Slovak Prime Minister described this visit as a “gesture of sycophancy” and emphasized that he is the prime minister of his country, not a “Ukrainian servant.”
