On Monday, January 20, French Prime Minister François Bayrou warned that France and Europe must stand up to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and his policies or risk being “crushed.”
Speaking to journalists in the city of Pau, Bayrou stated that the United States “has chosen to pursue an extremely dominant form of policy through the dollar, its industrial strategies, and its ability to attract global investments and research.”
“If we do nothing, our fate is very simple—we will be dominated. We will be crushed. We will be marginalized,” he declared.
The French Prime Minister emphasized that how the country responds is a decision that rests solely with the French people and Europe, adding that “it is evident that without Europe, we can achieve nothing.”
