A new survey conducted by Ipsos for The New York Times shows that the views of a significant portion of Americans align with key points of Donald Trump’s campaign.
Even his opponents acknowledge the importance of decisions that were once considered controversial:
55% of citizens support the idea of mass deportation of all illegal immigrants.
87% of respondents are in favor of the immediate deportation of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes. Donald Trump has promised to implement this measure on the second day after a possible return to the White House.
Nearly two-thirds of respondents, including 54% of Latinos and 44% of Democrats, believe that immigrants who arrived in the U.S. in the last four years should leave the country.
As of 2022, there were about 11 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S., but experts estimate that the number has now reached 13-14 million.
Other key findings from the survey:
46% of Americans support increasing tariffs on imported goods to protect the local economy.
71% of respondents oppose prescribing hormone treatments to children under 18. This issue, raised by Republicans, has become a significant part of their agenda.
60% of survey participants believe that the U.S. should reduce its involvement in international conflicts and focus more on domestic issues. The majority also believes that too many resources are being allocated to support Ukraine.
