In Slovakia, a court hearing on January 21 addressed the case of Juraj Cintuľa, who is accused of attempting to assassinate Prime Minister Robert Fico. The court ruled that Cintuľa’s condition is stable, and he will be moved from a psychiatric hospital to a regular prison.
Cintuľa himself requested the change in his detention conditions. The hearing included testimonies from psychiatry and psychology experts, as well as the accused.
To recap, on May 15, a shooting attempt was made on Fico’s life following a government session in Handlová. Initially, there were concerns about the prime minister’s survival.
Cintuľa, 71, stated during questioning that he never intended to kill Fico but aimed to “harm his health” to prevent Fico from pursuing policies Cintuľa opposed.
