According to a public opinion poll by KIIS, Ukrainians mostly view Donald Trump’s return to the presidency of the United States positively.
To the question of whether Trump’s return to the White House is a good or bad development for Ukraine, a total of 54% of respondents replied that they view it more positively than negatively.
The largest group, accounting for 37.5%, views Trump’s victory as “more good than bad”. 11.3% responded “quite good”, and 5.5% responded “very good”.
The percentage of respondents who think that Trump’s election is too bad is 3.2%, and very bad is 2.9%.
23.2% of respondents replied that they are unsure about their opinion, and 2% refused to answer the question.
The most optimistic respondents are those under 29 years old – their combined answers of “more good” to “very good” total 64%.
By Ukrainian region, the most optimistic attitude towards Trump’s presidency is seen in Western Ukraine (54.6% with answers from “more good” to “very good”).
On the other hand, respondents from Eastern Ukraine are the least positive. Only 35.6% think that Trump’s election is good for Ukraine, and 42.8% of residents in the region were unable to answer what Trump’s presidency would mean.
As a reminder, on January 22, Donald Trump announced that if a “deal” to end the war in Ukraine was not reached in the near future, he would have no choice but to “impose high taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on all that Russia sells to the United States and other countries concerned”.
