Croatia has announced a large-scale boycott of stores and gas stations due to rising prices and inflation

A large-scale protest against rising prices and inflation has begun in Croatia, with citizens boycotting shops, shopping centers, and gas stations.

According to the publication DANAS, the initiative was launched by a Facebook group called “Halo inspektore” (“Hello, Inspectors”). The idea was supported by consumer protection organizations, trade unions, political parties, and the Minister of Economy, Ante Šušnjar.

Croatian media published photos showing that shops and shopping centers were nearly empty on Friday, with a significantly reduced number of shoppers compared to regular days.

The call for a boycott spread through social media. Citizens were encouraged to refrain from making purchases on January 24 as a protest against high prices for food and other goods.
