U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he plans to renew cooperation with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un after the two established a working relationship during Trump’s first term.
He made this statement in an interview with Fox News.
Trump recalled that he had good relations with Kim Jong Un during his first term. “He liked me, and I got along with him,” he noted.
When asked by the journalist whether the U.S. president would contact the North Korean leader again, Trump responded affirmatively. “I’ll reach out to him again.”
Trump also claimed that the North Korean dictator is “not a religious fanatic” and is “a smart guy.”
During his first presidential term, Donald Trump met with Kim Jong Un three times: in Singapore, Hanoi, and at the Korean border—marking the first time a sitting U.S. president stepped onto North Korean territory.
