ANO movement could get almost 35% of votes in Czech parliamentary elections – poll

In the Czech Republic, the ANO movement would receive nearly 35% of the votes in the parliamentary elections, according to a poll.

According to the latest survey, the ANO movement will win the elections to the Chamber of Deputies with 34.9%. In second place is the Stačilo! coalition with 18.2%, and in third place is the Mayors and Independents (STAN) movement with 11.1%. Opposition parties SPD and Piráti, as well as the Stačilo! movement, will also make it into parliament, while Motoristé fail to surpass the 5% threshold needed to enter the lower house. These results are based on the electoral model from STEM for CNN Prima News.

The opposition SPD would receive 8.5%, Piráti would get 6.7%, and Stačilo! would get 5%. Despite a slight increase of 0.1%, this result is significant and will lead to an increase in the number of seats in parliament.

In contrast, Motoristé’s support decreased from 4.9% to 3.9%. Following them are Přísaha, Svobodní, and Zelení, each with 2%.

With these results, ANO can expect to win 89 seats in parliament. The “Together” coalition will receive 46 seats, STAN 25, SPD 19, Piráti 13, and Stačilo! 8. Thus, the ruling coalition would have 71 seats, which is insufficient for a majority in the 200-member lower house.

The poll was conducted from January 3 to 21 and included 2,573 respondents. The predicted voter turnout is 60.5%, which is lower than the turnout in the 2021 autumn elections, which was 65.43%.
